Master Yuqing is guiding us through the graceful movements of the Taoist Fairy Dance. In Chinese, the character 舞 (wǔ), which means “dance,” shares the same pronunciation as 巫 (wū), meaning “shamanism.” This linguistic connection highlights how dance has traditionally been used as a tool to communicate with the divine and the spiritual world.

The Taoist Fairy Dance, developed by Master Yuqing, draws from her thirty plus years of experience practicing various Taoist disciplines. This unique dance is designed to enhance the well-being of body, mind, and spirit, promoting effortless movement in alignment with the core principles of Taoism.

By integrating these principles into each dance move, practitioners tap into the flow of Qi (energy) and harmonize their inner and outer worlds.

The dance consists of 19 distinct movements, each aimed at invigorating the body’s energy systems. One of its key benefits is to strengthen the kidneys and promote the smooth circulation of Qi through the meridians, helping clear blockages and restore balance. Through the dance, practitioners experience rejuvenation, beauty, and a return to their natural state, embodying the Taoist belief in unity between heaven and humanity.

Take the dance move ‘Shuangyu Shi’ as an example: here, our hands move through the air like two fish swimming, connected head to tail. As we perform this movement, we stretch our belt vessel, a channel that governs the flow of energy, allowing for a balance between Yin and Yang.
